Automation Rules automatically perform certain actions based on specific conditions. With Convertkit, you can easily create automation rules using a simple “if this, then that” logic.

Let's take a look at three ways you can use Automation Rules in your email marketing strategy.

1- Tag subscribers from multiple opt-in forms

If you offer a freebie through different forms, it’s a good idea to tag those subscribers who opt into that freebie, no matter which forms they use.

This way, you can make sure that all your subscribers who opt-in to the same freebie have the same tag, and you can target them effectively in future campaigns

2- Offer your subscribers the option to not hear about a specific sales sequence

All you need to do is create an automation rule that is triggered by a link click and the action is an unsubscribe from a specific sequence.

In your email sales sequence, simply add a line that says something like, “Not interested in hearing about this offer, but want to stay connected? Just click here.”

This way, you won’t lose valuable leads who are just not interested in that particular offer.

3- Let your subscribers self-select their preferences

Use an automation rule to tag subscribers and send them through specific sequences based on the links that they click in your emails. This will help you warm up your audience faster by delivering customized content- automatically.
